Taking potty humor to the next level
A themed restaurant that serves your food in toilet bowls. No, seriously.
You know the drill. All too often you are making soup or noodles at home and you can’t find a big enough bowl. Well one day, a Hong Kong native named Wang Tzi-Wei had an idea. This idea came to fruition in the same way that all great ideas do - after an extended period of contemplation on the can.
Thus, the Modern Toilet restaurant chain was born.
From ceiling-suspended plungers to tables made from glass-covered bathroom sinks to food served in miniature toilet bowls, Modern Toilet truly lives up to its name. Diners sit on actual acrylic toilets (unworking, of course), while they wait to eat their food in style. Drinks come out in souvenir plastic urinals, which customers can take with them when they leave (just don’t get any ideas if nature calls on the car ride home).
And don’t worry, for those customers who don’t find the dining ware *ahem* tasteful, the restaurant has normal dishes as well, allowing you to simply enjoy the intricate theme and ambiance.
The franchise has been rapidly expanding since its origin in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. With locations sprouting up all over Asia, Modern Toilet is responsible for loads of entertained tourists, happy diners, and busy plumbers.
Make sure to grab a seat at a Modern Toilet the next time you are in Taipei.
