Hotel GM, or wizard?
On a tiny island off the coast of Florida, one general manager is conjuring magic for her guests daily.
There’s a big difference between good service and magical service.
Good service is having your needs met promptly and correctly by a cheerful and attentive staff.
Magical service is not having needs, because the staff saw them coming a mile away and made them disappear.
At the beautiful Elizabeth Pointe Lodge on Amelia Island—a luxurious oceanfront boutique hotel just a half hour from Jacksonville —they deliver magical service.
Who’s casting most of the comfort spells? Why, it’s Olivia Hoblit, the General Manager of Elizabeth Pointe (and possible hospitality wizard). She’s like that character in cartoons that with the change of their hat becomes a bellhop, then a chef, then a manager—only, you know, for real.
Guests of Elizabeth Pointe Lodge marvel at Olivia’s attentive presence over both breakfast and late-night dinners (wizards require very little sleep).
She will sort out a bill at checkout just as easily as she will materialize a crisp green apple for a guest on request (a bit of sorcery or sleight of hand?).
She remembers guests by name, she asks you how your [insert dinner, show, event, meeting] was because she remembers your schedule. She knows where her guests are from, and she knows every detail of your stay and this property (a wizard’s memory is borderline limitless).
But the most extraordinary thing about Olivia is the personalized service she gives to every guest of this intimate property. We've all hosted at least one dinner party where one person only eats organic, one person is a vegetarian, another is a vegan, and another can't eat gluten. You have two choices: you serve only raw celery and carrot sticks, or you get creative.
The Elizabeth Pointe gets very creative. There are nearly always gluten-free and vegan options, not only for meals but for snacks and whims. Have a hankering for quinoa for a dinner for your small group meeting and mention it at breakfast? Maybe you didn’t even tell anyone. Maybe you just thought it and made eye contact with Olivia for the briefest of moments.
SHAZAAM! Quinoa by 6pm.
The Elizabeth Pointe is a very special place, and the hands-on guest treatment comes not only through Olivia but through every one of the staff she manages, all of whom treat their guests as if their most important calling in life is making everyone’s stay at this ocean side B&B a little more magical.
Kudos Olivia for providing such magical, sharky attention to her guests!
