Houston, we have a really awesome bed.
Blast off! Indulge your intergalactic fantasies at the Wanderlust Hotel in Singapore where the beds are out of this world.
Man, were you bummed when you heard NASA was shutting down its manned spacecraft program. You spent five summers at Space Camp, only to have your dreams of being the first person to set foot on Mars burn up like liquid hydrogen in the atmosphere. Darn.
Maybe it’s time for you to plan a trip to Singapore instead.
Visit the Wanderlust Hotel and be wowed by its eclectic, eccentric design. Each of the hotel’s four floors was conceived by a different local design agency. There’s the “Industrial Glam” lobby, a sexy, futuristic take on the hotel’s gritty surroundings in Singapore’s Little India neighborhood. The second floor rooms are each decorated in a different vibrant monochromatic hue, and the third floor is all black and white, with origami and pop art decor.
But the fourth floor is for you, space voyager. Walk past the tree house room, the typewriter room, and the “bling” room. You’ll be tempted to stop at the ASCII room, but that’s for even bigger geeks than yourself.
Instead, unload your bags in the space room, next to the giant silver space shuttle and the pod chair stuffed with friendly plush aliens. Then, ascend a metal ladder to the loft bed and start your countdown. Lie back on your pillow and stare up at the pitch-black enclosure, illuminated by fiber-optic stars on the walls and ceiling. Is that zero gravity, or just a really comfy mattress?
When you’re ready to return to Earth, check out Cocotte, the hotel’s rustic French restaurant, before venturing out to the streets of Singapore to do some real exploring. There’s an amazing amount of fun things to do in Singapore, but nothing will be quite as ethereal as your bed. That’s what makes it so sharky!
Live long and prosper.
Stay in this room if: You’re planning on spending your first trillion dollars on a private space shuttle.
Don’t stay in this room if: You’re afraid of the dark. Or heights. Or space.
